This appears to be from the UK, but what phrases irritate you, where you live?
I have a few that I can think of:
“the fact of the matter is…”
“think outside the box”
“the disconnect is..”
“(whatever)-gate”
“going green”
“From the get-go”
“Touch base”
And I keep getting spam emails wanting to know about my Las Vegas resumes. What’s up with that?

Made up words and improperly worded phrases bother me. For example:
In WV:
1) “I wudn’t know.” The word is wouldn’t, and even in this form the word is suspect, as would not is geneally considered the proper version.
2) “I should’ve went yesterday.” First, should’ve is a spoken, not written contraction. Secondly, the phrase should read, ” I should have GONE yesteday.”
In PA;
1) “Yu’inz ready to order?” I guess this is similar to the you all phrase in the south, but it nonetheless jars my brain everytime I hear it.
OK, I LOVE “it’s not rocket science.” However, I only use that one on my husband because he IS a rocket scientist. I get a lot of mileage out of that one, and I refuse to quit. It’s part of the marriage agreement. 😉
But how about “it’s not you…”

Gotta admit…I’ve used that phrase ‘its not rocket science’…..actually when I was interviewing a potential salesman one day, I used it to describe the job opening…he then said to me ‘You know, rocket science really isn’t all that difficult” HUH????? I didn’t hire him.

From the list above I think its 24/7 and I personally dislike “taken for granted”.
