The latest in Weird Al Yankovic’s eight-videos-in-eight-days Mandatory Fun rollout plan is “Foil,” his parody of Lorde’s “Royals.” What begins as a celebration of preserving leftover food spirals into a conspiracy theory anthem — tin foil hats, see? Patton Oswalt guests as a video director with a secret and The State/Reno 911! guys Tom Lennon and Ben Garant have cameos as shadow government operatives.
Singing along to the New Zealand native’s catchy chorus, Weird Al then explains that wrapping his meal up may not be such a good idea because of fungus. However, keeping his “flavors sealed in tight” is necessary.
“With aluminum foil (foil)/Never settle for less/That kind of wrap is just the best/To keep your sandwich nice and fresh/Stick it in your cooler (cooler),” he sings. (The video features actors Patton Oswalt, Thomas Lennon and Ben Garant.)
