I’ve got an interesting question (at least, to me) to pose for you.
Here’s the situation:
You can live forever. The catch is: you must murder one person per year you intend to stay alive.
For example: At thirty years of age, you take the deal. Your physical age is frozen at 30. For every year you live, you must take one human life. If you don’t kill within that year, you die. Multiple killings will do you no good. It has to be at least ONE per year.
Would you do it?
Being a big fan of Stephen King, I would love to see him work this into a book. He could make it a great story!
Personally, I think I’d do it, until I got tired of living.
There are just so many people that need killing, I don’t see the problem.
Child molesters, murderers, rapists, drug rehabs, people who don’t use blinkers, the list goes on and on.
Obviously, my answer says a lot about me. What about you?
I wouldn’t, because I don’t see the point in living on when everyone you know and love will be gone! That, and killing a murderer makes you a murderer yourself…so does that mean you’ll kill yourself next? 😯 Hahaha I just might reconsider for “people who don’t use blinkers” though!
I thought about the fact that I would then become a murderer myself. On the other hand, some countries allow “assisted suicide” which is essentially murder, only difference is that the person who gets killed is willing. Sort of like Dr. Kevorkian did, and he was considered a murderer. In his eyes, he was only helping people out.
LOL yeah but you’re not a doctor (are you? I don’t know you well enough, if at all! Hahaha) and the murderers themselves are hardly ill or looking to be assisted in suicide

Um, I don’t know if I could do that. THOUGH, I do remember hearing on the news of this cat who would visit ppl in a nursing home the day before they died. … Maybe that’s the twist you don’t hear about. I don’t want to live forever if I have to be a cat.
Oh, and I wonder if I could pull this off by working for the military as a reservist. I could enter dangerous places and know that’d I be ok, plus get my one kill a year! But question : Would the deal cover me from un-natural causes?

Assisted suicide is quite popular in certain countries. One of my co-workers mother just “had it done”. His parents live somewhere (Netherlands maybe, not quite sure) and she was very ill and wanted to be “put down”. Kind of a harsh way of saying it, but that is exactly what it is.
The military is another way to get your one kill a year. Especially during a war time.
And to add to the explanation, yes, the deal would keep you from dying from un-natural causes. You simply could not die. Even if you wanted out and tried to kill yourself, you would continue living. Never another broken bone, never another cold, never sick…ever. The only way to die would be to not kill one person within 365 days. If you decide to opt out of the deal, your death would be a surprise. You have no idea of knowing how or when you will die.
As a religious man, and being a Buddhist, I would never do it.
I definately wouldn’t do it. I mean, who am i to judge who lives or who does?

I prefer to spend my life – even a few days – to change one of them to a better person than to kill them in order to live.
Besides, killing, makes me a murderer and murderers are in your list of 2-be-killed-in-order-to-live people so i might end up being someone else’s life prolonger 🙄
That all depends on your definition of “murderer”. If you consider Dr. Kevorkian a murderer, then yes, I would be a murderer.
You couldn’t end up being “someone else’s life prolonger” because you would be immortal.
*LOL* That makes a sick sort of sense, really. And I don’t think you’d be considered a murderer, not if you only kill bad folk. Kinda like Dexter, really. Kill the bad folk and people think you’re a saint. And, yeah, Steven King would work this idea liek whoa.
Also, hey, I never realized that Tobacco sign that’s in yer banner was a brand. There was a building near where I live that had it on it’s side, but the new owners painted over it. I thought it was a local thing. Huh. WV, also, myself. Nice to see other WVers exist on the net.
I would imagine that as you continued to do this, you would drain all meaning out of life, and even if you could live 1,000 years, I doubt very much that anyone would want to.
Basically, you would be taking all risk, all thrill, all danger out of life. Killing people would suck in other than self-defense or war time would drain your enjoyment of human company, as would the fact that everyone around you would still be getting older and dying.
Essentially, you would be eliminating everything interesting or exciting about life. What would be the point of continuing this after a short time?
And that’s leaving out the fact that you have to do this and not get caught… if you were thrown in jail, you could possibly die at 31, unable to make your kill, rather than living to a more normal 70-ish.
If I weren’t so busy, on the other hand, I think I could make a heck of a book out of the idea.

You may not want to live for 1000 years, but would it not be great to see the world in the year 3007?
Question of time line logistics:
Lets say I do it. I kill someone so I can live forever. Does the 365 days start then? And if I am able to kill someone within say another 30 days, does the 365 days start all over again? Or is it something more simple, like I have to kill someone sometime between last halloween and next halloween?
Also, do abortions count? could I become an abortion doctor? would that do it for me?The heart is usually beating when an abortion happens….
Hmmm 😕 No way I could do it. The guilt would drive me insane. I don’t think killing anyone is okay, even if they’ve done horrible things… it just doesn’t seem right to me. Even in situations of self-defense, I think I’d be more likely to let myself be killed than to take someone else’s life.
I have a question, though… what if you didn’t have to kill the person, they just died of a heart attack or something? What if it was just a random person, out of everyone in the world? Would that change anyone’s answer? I think that would make it a lot easier for most people to handle, since it doesn’t seem like you really caused their death. You probably wouldn’t even know whose death you had caused, and you couldn’t ever get caught for it.
Abortions are a bit of a gray area when it comes to this. Same deal with assisted suicide.

I don’t think I could do it. Karma has a way of catching up with you. What if someone decided to make me their next victim so they too can live forever? 😛
As long as you held up your end of the deal, you couldn’t die. You would essentially be immortal.
